Jessica Leal-Cruz
Clinical and Regulatory Development Program (CRDP) Associate I
Edwards Lifesciences
Jessica graduated from the University of California, Irvine in June 2018 with a Bachelor's degree in Material Science and Engineering. While at UCI, Jessica conducted research in the Gorodetsky Lab focusing on Cephalopod-inspired materials. She served as the SHPE UCI president during the 2017-2018 school year, under which the first-ever SHPEtinas Conference was created. She was also the first Latina ever to be the Student Speaker at the 2018 UCI Engineering Commencement.
Now graduated, Jessica works at Edwards Lifescience in the Clinical and Regulatory Development Program, a rotational program that rotates through functions in clinical and regulatory affairs. She is currently rotating through Regulatory Affairs in the Critical Care Business unit supporting a de novo submission and MDR compliance. She is also a Professional Development Committee Member of the Hispanic Organization for Leadership and Achievement (HOLA) at Edwards.
In her free time, Jessica enjoys dancing salsa and bachata and trying new foods. As part of the SHPE OC, she is the Community Outreach Chair, where she works in collaboration with student chapters to increase engagement of SHPE OC professionals in University events and workshops.

Quiyet graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a degree in English Literature. His emphases are in Creative Writing and Modern Literature. Quiyet loves to write poems and short stories in his spare time. In early 2019, he put everything aside and decided to get another degree in Computer Science in hopes of working for an AI company that produces products that assist the community.
As of now, Quiyet interns for a startup company where he monitors all stages of software development within the internal teams, e.g. developers and product managers, to identify system requirements for a mobile app that blends social networking, an interactive community, gaming, and AI with measurable CBT techniques.

Cesar Rodriguez
Project Engineer
Camden Property Trust
Cesar graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA with a B.S. in Architectural Engineering. Soon after graduating in 2016 he moved to New Jersey for 8 months to work as a Junior Architect and Project Engineer for Nick Tsapatsaris and Associates (NTA) where he completed projects in Northern New Jersey and New York City. NTA is an owner-builder which gave Cesar exposure to architectural, civil, structural, MEP, contract administration, construction management, as well as working with clients in property management and the leasing of projects.
Cesar decided to move back to Southern California in January of 2017 and accepted a full-time position with KTGY Group, an architectural firm in Irvine, CA. He was a Project Associate, Construction Phase in the High Density Residential & Mixed-Use Studio where he led projects from the start of construction. Throughout his 2 years contributing to KTGY he completed projects in Florida, Northern California, and Southern California.
During his 4 years as an undergrad Cesar held positions as the social chair, philanthropy chair, and scholarship chair for extracurricular organizations. He has always had a passion for helping others and mentoring bright prospects within his community. Being involved with the SHPE OC professional chapter he plans to continue his passion in giving back to the community and help develop others into professionals. During his free time you can find him either cycling, running, hiking, ballroom dancing, reading, or exploring tea/coffee shops.
